Once again… we witness the return of the world’s greatest Sonic the Hedgehog convention. I would say the world’s only Sonic the Hedgehog convention but that of course is no longer true. However that said, based off of the success of the Summer of Sonic conventions, it now returns for its 3rd annual convention in good ol’ Blighty.

So wondering what the hell I’m talking about? Well instead of boring you with a long history, head on over to the official Summer of Sonic website where there’s plenty of stuff to check out. Along with all the juicy bits of news now in the form of a blog, attendee information and a spotlight for you, the fans to give your input for this years convention! But veteran of the Sonic scene and staff member at every convention so far, FastFeet, will now give you his first opinions on Summer of Sonic 2010 (or as I prefer to call it, Summer of Sonic 3) with exactly 1 month to go until the party starts…

Venue

This year’s Summer of Sonic takes place in London once again, but as tradition dictates it’s held in a bigger and better venue – the Pavilion in Shepherds Bush. Easy to find and close to many of London’s bus and tube/underground stations. There are also plenty of shops, cafes and bars nearby so whether you’re young or a little bit older (like me!) there’s plenty of amenities in the local area

The Pavilion itself is rather impressive holding up to 1,000 people (yes! One Thousand!) and is split into 3 platforms and a balcony area that will be for staff/V.I.P’s. You can actually see inside of the building on the SoS website if you want a sneak peek.

What to do??

There’s always plenty to do at Summer of Sonic and for fans of all generations, so far there’s been very little announced about what is going to be there. Of course there will be a stage, an artwork area, games pods and areas to just generally chill. But we are expecting lots of new developments in the next couple of weeks.

Of course the main thing about the convention that I will stress, is that we’re all there to celebrate the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. But above all to meet like minded people in the community and meet new friends too! So don’t be afraid to say hi to FastFeet (pictured on the right).

I’m there! Well, I want to be, how do I attend?

First of all, it’s a one day event – so you don’t have to stay overnight at a hotel. But a lot of fans attending like to make a weekend of it. Be warned though – a lot of hotels and bed & breakfasts may be fully booked by now so get booking if you want to stay somewhere. Remember that Google is your friend and that hotels etc, are open in the evening so you can call, make enquiries and book them if you don’t have time otherwise.

Meanwhile we’re waiting for the organisers to dish out tickets via the website, it’ll be first come, first served so keep an eye on the Summer of Sonic site to guarantee your entry!
