Post Digital Economy Act
Incase you haven't heard yet, this new bill got passed not too long ago in the UK. It won't go into effect until June 12. But basically the bill states that;

The government is allowed to view your internet viewing history if you repeatedly infringe on copyright
ISPs can disconnect your internet connection without any solid proof nor a court hearing if you're even so much as accused of downloading illegally
ISPs will be required to block access to websites that have content that infringes on copyright

I am both worried and not worried at the same time. There is no way this can be effective, if they actually enforce it strictly that's pretty much the entire UK that will be disconnected from the internet.

If whoever that gets elected doesn't repeal this bill, then I'm just going to sit and watch for a couple months after it goes into effect to see how strictly it's enforced.

To be honest, I'm not sure what this means. I get what the DEBill is trying to do, but surely they'll just be monitoring file sharing sites and the like. Torrent downloading sites shouldn't be blocked, because the torrent files themselves aren't illegal.

Still, as you said, we'll see.

Cue my usual "down with the government, flip the pigs, etc" rant.

I'm pretty sure that at least 99% of internet activity is immoral. If not questionable, at least.

Actually i think it is at 99%, it just depends what you consider "immoral" or "Questionable".
As for this "Digital Economy Act" i doubt it will be enforced much.
