Gaming Soundtracks to be played on Radio 1
Added: May 16th, 2009 in: News, Video Games | No Comments »

For those of you who are not in the UK Radio 1 isessentially the biggest and most popular radio station that is listened to across the country. During the upcoming Bank Holiday weekend (22nd to 25th May) Radio 1 will be covering lots of games based content ranging from reviews, leaderboards and even a games surgery to help out fellow gamers. BBC Radio 1 & 1Xtra will be hosting an online poll to find the greatest ever video game. A panel of industry experts will compile a list of their top 100 games and then listeners will be invited to choose their top three from the list.

Perhaps the highlight of the weekend is that for once, video games soundtracks will be played and heard by millions over commercial radio – something that very rarely happens. Most of the music can be listened to on the Monday (25th), so it’s something worth tuning into!

You can give Sega and Sonic your support by calling in, but whether you’re in the UK or not you can listen to the events on Radio 1 via their website.

Golden Joystick Awards 2009 – Vote for Sega and Sonic
Added: May 6th, 2009 in: News, SEGA Games, Sonic | 1 Comment »

For those of you who have a keen eye, TSSZ News recently reported the upcoming Golden Joystick Awards. If anything the GJA’s are the most prestigious awards in the gaming industry to my knowledge, in fact the awards have actually been going for for 27 years now!

I don’t usually particpate in these sort of voting events but if there’s one to be involved in this year – this is it! Vote for the best games of the last year with categories ranging from console specific awards to best familygame.

So get voting! Personally I’m gunning for Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Chronicles to win some awards because it’s about time a Sonic game got an award and these 2 are the most likely candidates. Anyways click here to be taken to the voting page, may the best game win!

Review: Sonic Chronicles (Nintendo DS)
Added: May 4th, 2009 in: Reviews, Sonic | No Comments »

Release Date: Out Now
Publisher: Sega
Developer: Bioware

Age Rating: 7+

It was only a short while ago that FastFeet Media were given an exclusive chance to play test Chronicles (Read about it here) and we left with very high hopes for Chronicles. Recently Sonic the Hedgehog’s portable outings have been met with warm welcomes throughout the gaming community. Take for example Sonic Rush and Sonic Rush Adventure; both these titles have received very high scores all round due to the fact that both games somewhat brought traditional elements back to the series by keeping the gameplay largely 2D.

Sonic Chronicles Community Day
Added: May 4th, 2009 in: Community, Features, Sonic | No Comments »

It’s not often that we are invited to see the folks from Sega and this event was certainly no exception. FastFeet Media, along with a whole host of other websites that are dedicated to the community such as Sonic Wrecks, the Sonic Stadium, Sonic Yoda, Radio Sega, Sonic Cage Dome and various others all attended this event held at the Wii Flat in central London. All of us were there for one reason and one reason only; to have an exclusive look at Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood.

After arriving at Tottenham Court Road tube station I met up with Dan Dyer from our neighbouring network site DoubleDMix. To avoid being late we set off for the Wii Flat which was a short walk away, fortunately though we ended up at the flat before anyone else with the rest of the Sonic crew gathering soon after. We were then welcomed into the Wii Flat, which is like a normal flat with the exception that it looks like Mario had switched from being a plumber to an interior decorator.

Jet Set Radio Past?
Added: May 4th, 2009 in: Features, SEGA Games, Video Games | No Comments »

Think back to the days of the Dreamcast, feels like quite a while ago now doesn’t it? It’s been even longer since we’ve seen some of the finest games Sega has ever released. One game Sonic fans would immediately agree with is the Dreamcast’s incarnation of Sonic Adventure, so thinking along those lines a fantastic idea for a new Sega game is what I’d like to call ‘Jet Set Radio Past’.

Jet Set Radio (Known as Jet Grind Radio in the USA)

For those of you unfamiliar with the Jet Set Radio (JSR) games the idea is simple. You’re a skater (not the Tony Hawks kind, think 4 wheels on each foot) and your objective is to spray paint your ‘artwork’, marking your turf across the city of Tokyo-to whilst battling the government and fellow rival gangs. Sounds like an average videogame upon first glance, but there are several things that make JSR really stand out from the crowd. JSR was the first videogame to use a technique known as cel shading, essentially making objects appear cartoon-like and look 2D even though you’re actually in a 3D environment. This looked outstanding back in 2000 and still does today, since then cel shading has been used in a variety of games with some techniques even implemented into blockbuster films.

FastFeet Media Center 2.0 soon to arrive!
Added: May 2nd, 2009 in: Updates | No Comments »

Those of you who regularly visit FastFeet Media will know that I’ve been tinkering with various areas of the site as of late. However I’ve now come to a decision as to how the site will be structured now, and in in the future too. Originally I had planned for FastFeet Media not to just include downloads but music and video to listen to as well as LiVE! media which would showcase the cream of the crop of talent in the video games community.

Looking at the image to the left you’ll note that we have Music, Video and LiVE Media. This will take over from the videos section that the site currently has and will allow you to explore all kinds of media instead of just video – just make sure you have Adobe Flash ^^.
